1. Udyapan is done as a concluding ceremony of a Vrat(fasting). Before doing this Puja, the devotee should fast for a certain number of days mainly 16 Mondays and Udyapan are done on the 17th Monday as a final ceremony.
2. It is mainly done by unmarried girls to get a good husband or whose marriage is getting delayed. Married women also do this puja for a happy marital life.
3. As this puja is solely dedicated to Lord Shiva, a devotee can start their fasting from Shukla Paksha Monday or Shravan Month Monday and do the udyapan on 17th Monday. Vrat(fasting) should not be done during periods.
