1. Pind Daan is a significant ritual performed to honour the departed souls. Pindas, which are rice balls mixed with sesame seeds, honey, and other ingredients, symbolize the body of the deceased.

2. This ritual involves offering water mixed with sesame seeds and barley to the ancestors, accompanied by the chanting of specific mantras by qualified pandits.

3. The ritual begins with a bath in the Ganga River at one of the Ghats in Haridwar, such as Harki Pauri, Kusha Ghat, Vishnu Ghat, Brahmakund, or Saptarishi Ashram.

4. After the holy dip, Pindas are offered to the ancestors, followed by the Tarpan ceremony and feeding the Brahmins.

5. Performing Pind Daan is considered a duty of descendants towards their ancestors, fulfilling their obligations to the departed soul.

6. Pind Daan is commonly performed during Pitrapaksha,when it is believed that ancestors come from Pitraloka to Bhuloka.
